Take the Art Works Survey

ART WORKS ASKS FOR COMMUNITY INPUT ON BRINGING ARTISTS AND BUSINESS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BENEFIT THE TWIN PORTS ECONOMY

How can businesses and the arts community work together to benefit the Twin Ports culturally and economically? And what can local leaders do to help in these efforts? These are just two of the issues Art Works is asking Northland artists, business people, and community members to weigh in on.

The survey, which will be available to the public for two weeks, takes 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey asks a variety of questions including what can be done to enhance the Twin Ports appeal as a destination for tourists interested in attending arts events and what opportunities do you see for the arts community and business community to work together to improve the area economy.

Research gathered from the survey will help drive the focus of a spring event. “We want to provide a welcoming platform for artists, business people, arts organizations and arts-related businesses to come together and find ways to collaborate,” said John Heino, one of 31 community catalysts and president and CEO of Como Oil and Propane.

“We have been researching successful arts-related economic development projects across the United States with an intention to present these models as inspiration. This survey will help us design the spring event to meet expectations and interests,” said Heino.

Art Works, one of five teams of the Knight Creative Communities Initiative, aims to engage the arts community and business sector in collaborative efforts to spur greater economic prosperity in the region.

The Knight Creative Communities Initiative is a venture that aims to pull together the ideas and talents of all parts of the community in building a more attractive environment for economic growth. The KCCI was initiated and funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and works with the Creative Class Group and 31 citizen Catalysts.
